Default Low Audio

Is this normal that my HD DVD player for XBOX 360 has a low volume for movies? I have an Aquos Sharp 36" HDTV, and the XBOX 360 has a great volume for games, but when watching an HD DVD, the volume tends to be a lot lower. I have my tv cranked up to 40 out of 60 possible volume levels, compared to the usual 20 I use watch tv or play games.

Also, is it bad to have your volume all the way up? I've tried it and it's not like there are any weird sounds happening, but I just don't know. If anyone would please let me know what they think, and what are some possible ways to fix this, or maybe it's just supposed to be that way. Thanks!

movies and games are encoded at different volumes, some movies would sound louder, but if u got an xbox 360 and an aquos, u really should take full advantage of them and get a seperate sound system. tv speakers are just plain terrible. 10W speakers do no justice for xbox 360 games and movies.

This is a known issue with the HD-DVD, the movies play around 10-15 decibels lower for some reason. however, MS are apparently onto the issue.

Right now I think a lot of it has to do with the conversion from the new audio formats to standard DD 5.1 (which the 360 outputs). Apparently this is muffling sound output somewhat, and giving the audio less definition. MS should be coming out with a DTS firmware upgrade soon, which should help increase audio/volume quality if your receiver supports DTS.

I am sure a firmware update will be on the way soon. I have the same problem as well, but only a minor problem for now.

I have a home theatre setup, but compared to every other device I have including playing games on the Xbox 360, the audio is notably much lower when playing HD DVD content.
