i have mine on 720p, it's the native resolution for 360 games, and also 720p is progressive and not interlaced, progressive is always better in my opinion especially in high def. for 360 gaming and hd movie watching the 360 is good.

Plus most games are native in 720p

I use 720p as well with the 360 because my projector is 720 natively. But others will tell you that you'll get a better picture if you allow the display to down convert from 1080i. It really depends on the display. Personally I never notice a difference between the 2 modes with mine, but I always prefer progressive because I have a thing against interlaced.

very hard to tell the difference between them, they are so close in quality. I prefer 720p, because I always prefer progressive over interlaced.

but since the xbox is a 720p native system, I would use 720p and let your TV upscale, it will most likely have a better upscaler than the xbox anyway.

my rule is I always output the native resolution no matter what, unless it's 480i/p material and then i'll upscale it to whatever the native resolution of my TV is.

For movies go 1080i. For games I would go 720. The reason for 720 over 1080i is you will gain about 6fps and when it comes to gaming every additional frame helps. If I can find the calculation showing this, I will post it.

Not quite the calculation I was looking for but this should help explain my reasoning for using 720p for gaming.

I can't notice the difference between 720p and 1080i. However, on my PS3 when I choose automatic for the resolution, it picks 1080i instead of 720p as the highest picture quality The only time I do notice a difference is when I surf the web on my PS3 and the lettering/pictures are smaller, but clearer with the res set to 1080i.

whats your tv's native is it 720p, 1080i and or 1080p. The ps3 i think goes with whatever native resolution your tv is hooked up to. Also make sure you downloaded all the latest firmware updates, they fixed alot of issues with the ps3.

my 360 is hooked up to 720p native to my tv, my other tv is hooked up to my hd dvd drive via 1080p with hdmi.

My DLP is 720P native but the PS3 defaults to 1080i (which then gets down converted to 720P by my HDTV). I'm planning to just remove the check on the 1080i and have 480P and 720P only.
