Default Elite sound problem?

This may have been discussed already, but I just got the Elite not too long ago and I keep getting a random popping noise every now and then. I have tried using the HDMI straight to my tv then use the rca out on my tv to go to my receiver. I have also tried using the audio adaptor that came with the Elite going straight to my receiver and it's still popping. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks.

It happens in games and movies. I tried even switching to the other HDMI port on my tv, thinking it may be that, but it still pops and cracks. It's not constant. It happens maybe every other minute, but randomly. It almost sounds like it's clipping but it's not always when there is something loud happening. Is it just me?

I had that problem not too long ago but I realized it was my optical switcher that was the problem. But you say it still happens w/ no pass-through through another device (in this case your TV). When you're hooking it directly to your receiver are you using the optical (5.1) connection, or the RCA stereo? If it's the optical connection try switching the signal on the dashboard from Dolby 5.1 to just stereo and see if it still happens. If it does, and the RCA R/L cables don't help either, it may be the sound card.

like pat said, try changing to different cords (and it seems like you have) and from there, try changing the audio settings within Dashboard itself to kind of reset the system and if the same thing happens, return or exchange the unit

It hasent been out for a month yet and so most places will have a 30 day return or exchange policy and if some how, you cant, call MS and have them worry about it.
