Default MS pushes Xbox 360 1080p fix

Saw on Major Nelson.com that they pushed the 1080p fix this morning.

http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2...1080p-fix.aspx

I'm interested to hear feedback from people that couldn't get it working before on their Sony TVs. You will be prompted for the update when you power on your connected 360.

"The next time you sign into Xbox Live, you’ll be prompted for a dashboard update. The update contains:
Improved support for HD video output over VGA, including 1080p resolution
Improved plug and play performance for wired headsets when being used with wireless controllers
Changes made to recently played games list to improve accuracy"

I thought the last update enabled 1080p over VGA?

It did, but it didn't work with certain Sony 1080p sets. This is supposed to fix that. (I think some people here had the problem. It's discussed in one of the other topics.)

I don't think that this will help me. Acording to my manual my set only accepts 1080P from HDMI. I have VGA and Component also but I only tested component with 1080P last update and it didnt work. I would like it to work now but I don't hold out hope.

Can you connect a normal PC through the VGA connection and set the resolution to 1080 x 1920? If so, I think it should work as well...

It still might work over VGA. Some TVs will accept 1080p over VGA even if their manuals say otherwise. You really don't know unless there's someone here or maybe over at AVSForum with you model TV that has tried it. It's a shame those cables are $40 or else I'd say just go buy one and try it. Return it if it doesn't work.

I bought the VGA cables, but only my 37" 720p LCD has a VGA connection. The other Mitsu 1080p DLP in the family room doesn't have VGA input, and only takes 1080p through HDMI. Oh well, not like there is a difference between 1080i and 1080p on the Mitsu anywayz

I have not hooked anything up to the vga input. If I could borrow a cable I would give it a go. I seem to remeber someone saying that it didn't work on my model last update. Perhaps now it will. If they just would release an HDMI cable I might pick it up if it was priced resonalbly. Honestly though 1080i gets turned to 1080P anyway and it looks great so this may all just be academic.

Many of the Mitsubishis had the ability to input an RGB H/V signal (mine does and also does not have a VGA input). If yours has this type of capability, then a VGA cable can easily be adapted to be used with this input (this is what I do).

The only reason I can think of doing this, besides playing games in 1080p, is to play your DVDs upconverted.
