Default XBox 360 & HD-DVD addon sound issue

I have the XBox 360 w/HD-DVD addon connected to my surround sound system. It had been working perfectly for many months, but now I am having a sound issue. I'll be watching a regular DVD or HD-DVD and after an hour or so I'll get a cacophonous sound coming out of my speakers. To fix this I have to turn off my home theater system then turn it back on. There isn't a visual issue when this happens.

I have a dvd player on my home theater, and I wanted to narrow this down, so I watched a dvd on it last night to see if I have the same issue. It didn't happen on the home theater dvd player so that tells me it's related to my XBox.

I've checked all of my connections and there are no problems there. I have high quality/official cables, too.

I can't seem to find anything on this, so I'm wondering if anyone has heard of this, or had it happen to them?

I recently got the add-on. I'll put a watch on this issue just in case. What receiver are you using?

A couple of questions on the add-on:
- How do you turn the add-on off if you just want to use the 360?
- ON the included remote, how to eject the HD DVD add-on? If I press the eject button, it eject the 360 tray.
- How do you access the PIP with the remote? I see it on the lower right corner of my screen but can't navigate to it.

Thanks

I dont know but it could be your receiver....I am getting a sound problem too after a while of playin or watching a movie the sound will sound all crackily and stuff....but I have an old receiver so i dont know if its the same as your problem.

There is really no way to turn off the add-on.....i mean if you really want it off you can diconnect it....but i dont see a problem with having it on with the 360.
