Default 360 Trade-in Value at Gamestop/EB

Starting today, EB/Gamestops raised the trade-in values for Xboxes...

Premium 360 - $250 in-store credit
Core 360 - $200 in-store credit
Original Xbox - $50 in-store credit

Update: Well, it turns out that upon purchase of an Elite, you'll get a sheet of coupons. So the above trade-in values are valid only with those coupons. So you can transfer your data to the new HDD and bring in your old console for credit.

Any of you plan on trading up to an Elite?

Xbox 360 Elite: $449
Xbox 360 Premium Trade-In: -$250
$229

So you can upgrade for $229 -- not bad considering the new 120 GB HDD costs $199. I think I'll wait, however, until the ones with 65 nm chips come out.

I wonder if they let you transfer your data in the store if you turn in your old one for an elite?

I personally don't need the extra HDD and don't think it's worth that much just for HDMI. I am happy with my VGA connection.

yeah the extra hdd would be a big help. i hate deleting demos and it would be nice to have hdmi, even though it's not a necessity.

i thought that 360 values would actually go down or stay the same considering the elite was coming out, not up. anyone know why or care to explain?

The higher value is to encourage people to upgrade to the new system. Most people likely need extra incentive, as a bigger harddrive and HDMI are not enough reason to upgrade, so they are trying to make the Elite a bit more attractive.

I talked to one of the clerks at my local EB store and although they had a SKU for the Elite in their database, they had no idea what was going to happen for a trade-in deal. He explained that Gamestop in the U.S. already had one, but it may take a while for EB Canada to set somehting up. Speaking of moving your data over to the new HDD, I hope it's quick and easy to do. I just wish I could combine the 2 profiles that are on my current HDD into one, once I change over to the 120 drive. Before I bought the 360 from my buddy, I already had a profile with stats on it before recovering my Live Gamertag.
