Default Xbox 360 vga-component adapters

Is it possible to take the vga output of an Xbox 360 through an adapter (active or passive) to convert to component for the purpose of using it's DVD upscaling capabilities? Otherwise I'm looking at about a year to upgrade displays.

I have done quite a bit of research into this and so far I have not seen an economical way of doing this. If you happen to have RGB inputs (R,G,B, and H and V) like my Mitsubushi, then there is a simple cable adapter from VGA to RGB. But I doubt that you will have much luck with VGA to Component.

Actually there are a couple of products that will do this. But you are looking at over $100, and this only does 1080i, not 1080p (which is no big deal because most TV's don't do that anyway).:

Surely it would be cheaper to just buy a standalone upscaling dvd player? I know in the UK this can be had for <100.

But what about using a VGA to component cable? There are tons of them available, and at decent prices. I'm wondering if I can use the VGA output from the 360 to get 1080p output with HD-DVDs and then using a VGA to component cable and keep the and plug it into my projector which accepts 1080p input via components.
