Default Xbox 360 or PS3?

Is it me or do XBox games just look better than PS3?

I've noticed that many PS3 titles only go up to 780p while Xbox titles (at least all the ones I own) are up tp 1080p.

Does anyone know why this is?

Whenever I have a choice between the Xbox or the PS version of a game, I always go with Xbox because they just look better on my TV.

The 360 scales itself using the hardware, while PS3 games have to scale using software, and it depends on the game publishers whether or not the game will scale or not.

I usually go with 360 games over the PS3 versions just for the achievements.

I believe the 360 games look better... some of them are running on the 360 at 1080i while only running at 720p on the PS3. It annoys me because I purchased a PS3 being told by Sony that their the only system that outputs 1080p... yet none of the games I have played output higher than 720p. Ah well.

I completely and totally agree. I don't understand what the issue is with the PS3. Right now, to me, it's a great movie player, but a second rate video game machine.

I always have and will continue to go with the Xbox version of games released on both consols.

Here is what I think. 360 if you are going to play online! PS3 if you generally play just by yourself. Basically the 360 is where most people are playing online, so even though ps3 has online play most people are doing it on the 360.

As far as games goes, 360 has more, but again their single player games are not as good as Wii and ps3.

Plus Achievements make video games fun and last longer. You no longer want to just beat the game, but beat it then get all of the achievements.

I would assume identical titles that have been already released will look better on the PS3, because most reviews say they do. There will be a title here and there that will look better on PS3, but as of right now, the 360 titles outweigh the PS3 titles.

As for answering the question, "360 or PS3?" I would have to go with PS3 now that the prices are comparable buy you also get the Blu-ray player with PS3.

I do take issue with the 360 now that free online gaming is available on PS3 and Wii, but, aside from costing money, the 360 online experience tends to be better than PS3.

Bottom line: both systems have pros and cons. As long as you're happy with your purchase, everything should be good.

ditto here. all i use my PS3 for is watching movies. i do own 1 game for it, but i have yet to open it. i always go with the 360 versions for cross-platform games over PS3 for 2 reasons:

1) built-in anti-aliasing
2) achievements

PS3 online may be free, but you get exactly what you pay for. Live kicks the crap out of PSN hands down.

And I'd get any game on the 360 before I'd get it on the PS3 for achievements. Also IMO most do look better. And IIRC all the EA 2007 (or maybe 2008) games run @ 60fps on the 360, while being gimped to 30fps on the PS3. I'm pretty sure the next year they are/were running the same though.

EDIT: Confirmed, it was the 2008 games, http://www.ps3vault.com/madden-08-ru...-xbox-360-1713

Which ones do you own that goes up to 1080p? I guess I would have to get an elite to play them.
