Default 360 optic wire question.

I have the model with the hdmi port on it...i know when using component cables theres a slot for the optic wire...im not sure if im blind or what but if im using an hdmi cable, theres no way to connect and optic cable to a spk system correct?

your TV should have an optical out, use that. (that is what I use anyway) the audio is going over HDMI to the TV.

Are you using the MS branded HDMI cable? I have those, and it as a port on the cable plug itself for the optical out.

I tried using the HDMI to the Vizio and the optical out to the speakers, but it wouldn't decode Dolby Digital or DTS. Haven't been able to get it to do it.

I know, get what you pay for, but, the Vizio is not the long term plan for the living room.

Like Tory said, the MS branded cable comes with a seperate audio adapter with analog and optical audio connections.
