Default in honor of the passing of HD DVD...

believe it or not, my xbox 360 elite RROD'd today of all days. luckily I have the A2 so I can continue watching 2001. I blame HAL. Also I'm pretty pissed because Best Buy's website says they don't have any elites available for store pickup, which means I am going to have to have the replacement shipped to me and I won't be able to find out if I'm getting a falcon model until it gets here.

Luckily I've got a buddy with a memory card who helped me back my game saves up.

*update* sweet sweetness. the store had some in stock, and luck of lucks, I got a falcon model. almost as quiet as my ps3, and as far as i know, RROD proof!

I'm waiting for my early 2007 360 to crash so that I can use my BBY warranty and trade it in for an Elite...grats on the new Elite! I'm glad it's much quieter than your older unit.

Lol. I'm still wondering about all the people having defuncted XBOX360 units but still the XBOX360 of my brother works since mid./end. 2006.

yeah, my first 360 was a pro and it died 10 months after I got it. my second was another pro which I actually brought back to best buy shortly before the elite came out so I could take advantage of the hdmi. so my third 360 was an elite, which oddly enough also died 10 months after I got it. in any case, it was about twice to three times as loud as my current system - so obviously I'm very happy to have the newer, cooler, more efficient unit - the 4th time around.

Hey, 10 months isn't that bad. SONY products usually quit working 1 month after you're out of warranty (No kidding but that happened to my fathers equipment more than just once).

My first 360 crapped out in about 14 months. I'm 14 months in on the second.

I want to buy a 360 for my nephew, what do I look for to determine if it is a falcon? I am happy with my Elite, 9 months of abuse and no RROD.
