Default Shortage On 360 Consoles?...

Long story short, my launch xxxxbox 360 died and I'm trying to buy a new one (I voided my warranty, so sending it back for repair is not an option)... Anyway I went out today to 8 different stores: 2 Wal-Marts, 2 Best Buys, 2 Sears, Costco, and Circuit City... Of those 8 stores, not a single 360 console was to be found... After checking various websites I found only a couple showing in-stock...

Is there a shortage on xxxxbox 360 that I was not aware of?...

Have you tried Fred Meyer.

You would be surprised what they stock. Heck they had Wii's there when everyone could not find them. LOL.

Actually, I noticed this on Yahoo Tech News this morning -

Microsoft seeing Xbox shortages in U.S.

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) is seeing shortages of its Xbox 360 video game console in the United States, as the company failed to anticipate strong post-holiday demand, an executive said on Wednesday.

"We are really running short of product here in the United States," Jeff Bell, head of global marketing for Microsoft's games business, said in an interview. "You could say we misjudged demand."

The comments came a day before market research firm NPD is expected to release video game sales data for January and Bell said Microsoft was hoping to "manage expectations."

"We're literally out of stock in many stores. We think this will have an impact on our sales," Bell said. "It may cause the overall industry number to be down a little bit.

I've noticed they are hard to find. 1 of my Best buys has 2 Arcade versions, the other BB is out of stock. Costco has 2 bundled up premiums when they normallly have a pallet full. My Walmart has none as well as Target. Have not checked the game stores.

My launch 360 died a few days ago as well so I was looking around to find one incase I could not get mine fixed through Microsoft.

amazon right now seems to be the best bet. My launch console just died 2 weeks ago so its getting fixed right now, but my work just bought a system for game tournaments for teen programs. They searched everywhere, took them a week to find one
