Default Xbox 360 Premium W/HDMI HELP!!

Hey guys my landlord just got a 360 premium with HDMI. We tried hooking up a monoprice hdmi cable and got nothing. Then we hooked up component and it worked and i looked through the settings for hdmi setting but found none. Does the cable have to be a proprietary xbox hdmi cable or am i fuckin something up. This sux normally i am the one giving advice lol but im stumped.

Check to make sure you have the tv set on the HDMI in the A/V setting....that will be different from the component setting.

HDMI from 360 to tv should give both picture and sound.

I have an Elite and use a monoprice HDMI cable to go directly to the TV and run a glass toslink to the receiver. I do not have an issue. The 360 reads the maximum resolution the TV/receiver can accept (i.e. you can not force a 1080p signal). Are you going directly to the TV or through a receiver first? I would check the settings on the TV, I am guessing your problems lay there.

Why did My post somehow disappear?

Turn off the 360 and plug in the HDMI cable only. Turn on the system using the controller and hold the right trigger and the Y button down until the system resets and comes back on. It will reset the video options and default to 480p. Just go back into the display settings and change it to your desired output.
