Default 360 owners: If you have the HD add on click here.

My brand new HD-DVD add on for the 360 is scratching my movies! What the?

What a joke! I just got this thing like 3 hrs ago. I installed it like how the manual says. I put in my first movie, play it for like 10mins, take it out and the thing is all scratched up with these claw like marks, and has all these moisture like dots, wtf? I also noticed when in the movie, and I hit the guide button, and hit Y to get back to the dash, it wouldnt even prompt me anything. When I would hit Y, the guide would show up with all these wierd grey lines and then takes me to the dash. Is that normal? Im pretty sure its not. Can anyone else with the add on confirm?

So I figured I would try another movie, open it up and pop it in for no more than a minute. Take it out, and the thing has marks on it already! What the hell is this crap?

I had this issue with a 360 before, and now it looks like the add on aint any better quality than the console itself So Ill exchange it tommorow. Hopefully, its not a series of trips I have to make back to the store.

Default hmmmmm

I just got my HD DVD for the 360 and my is not scratching the discs....Maybe it is just the one you bought. Return it and see if the other one does the same thing. I just got three movies and not one of mine are scratched at all. Write again if you still can't figure it out.

My discs are fine.
I do know that the discs will scratch in the 360 if you switch it from vertical to horizontal (or visa versa), while the dvd is spinning. I stands to reason that the same may happen with the add-on.
I'm not saying that's what you are doing. I just know that will sratch them. Badly. I'm sure they will allow any returns. Most retailers will also allow returns of the movies, as long as you trade them in for the same movie.

I've had mine sense November of last year and have had no problems at all.
Take it back and get yourself a new one. And try and get those scratched discs exchanged aswell.

Let us know how it goes with the new one.

I just experienced a different problem with mine. I've had it since December and it has worked just fine for me. Yesterday I unhooked several of my components to do some rearranging in my entertainment center to make room for a PS3. Well, when I hooked everything back up, my 360 HD-DVD drive could no longer recognize HD-DVDs. When putting one in, the screen just said "reading" but never loaded the disc. I tried more than one HD-DVD. Amazingly, when I popped in a standard dvd, it loaded with no problem. Now I have to wait while Microsoft sends me an empty box in the mail, and then I am to send my HD-DVD drive to them. Upon receipt of it, they are sending me a new one. Totally bizarre and a pain in the ass... at least I can watch Blu-ray in the meantime.
