Default Question about Xbox 360 HDD

I was thinking of getting the Datel Xport 360 Xbox 360 Docking Station so I can move files (videos and stuff) off the HDD onto another hard drive (maybe even archive some downloaded stuff on cds or dvds) so I'll have more space to download more marketplace content. Anyone know if this works? Are there any other ways to copy the files?

Thanks,

Yes it does work although transfer rate sometimes seems to vary in speed. I am not sure what that is all about. You'd have to ask a more techie kinda guy than me. I love movies and video games and am somewhat knowledgable in tech stuff, but can't explain wierd stuff like that.

Anyway, other ways are to download xplorer360. It's a data transfer program. That works as well. Of course there are other ways to add HD's to it. You can get a USB to SATA connector and add a physical internal HD to it. Of course, there's no space to mount it inside the 360 case, but at least you can maybe add like a 160GB HD. Someone somewhere I think even added some sort of raided dual 750GB hd's. I don't know all the details, but I'll try to find the link again.

The regular one? Made my MS? If you're talking about that... well the 20GB is $99.99. And that is NOT worth it IMHO. I can get a 160GB internal HD from newegg for around $120 and a USB to SATA connector for $40. So I'm only paying an additional $60 for 140 more gigs. That's paying 60% more for 800% more space. Hmm... what's the better deal? DUH!

Granted, it doesn't mount nicely onto your 360. But I'm more of a function kinda guy than a looks kinda guy. But it's up to your personal tastes.

I know there is a Hack currently out but, the only thing is you can only use it as a 20G until a Newer one comes out from MS that allows it to access the higher Capacity.

So Say you buy a 120G WD BEVS Drive and Replace it with your current 20G then when the 120 Comes out you can redo the hack to access the whole amount. Sounds Convoluted but @ $84 for a 120G BEVS Drive that's Cheaper than the MS 20G. If they would just let us swap out for whatever brand and size we want that'd be better. That's one thing I honestly think the PS3 has as an advantage over the 360.

I'm not too knowledgable in the tech stuff. It seemed like even if I downloaded xplorer360, I would still need a way to connect the HDD directly to the PC, which would bring me back to the docking station. Is the docking station just a glorified USB to SATA connector? Would either let me connect the HDD directly to my PC?

No. Besides it be $99 for only 20GB. I'm betting there is going to be announcement for a larger HDD in the coming months.
