Default Xbox 360 w/ HDMI - Can it do True-HD?

I am posting this form my cousin. we did some poking around, but couldn't find an answer for an xbox that has HDMI. If you have a new 360 (one that has HDMI), and get the HD-DVD add on, will the HDMI send the True-HD signal to the receiver? Or will it still be the 5.1 you get with the optical cable?

The 360 won't be able to output TrueHD because it uses HDMI 1.2

Even of all the new 3rd gen players, the only one that supports TrueHD is the HD-A35. Eventually I will be upgrading to that player but gonna wait a few more months first.

The XA2 outputs TrueHD over HDMI after firmware 2.7 upgrade.
