I had the exact same problem! I found that I had too many splitters between the source cable and the modem.
I guess it degraded the signal to the point it would never recognize the IP address.

I use the same modem for my computer and I physically move it between the PC and the 360.(they are in different rooms)

Oh, sorry. That is the extent of my knowledge on that subject.

****WAIT! I just reread your post

What I mean is the coax cable needs as few spitters as possible going into the modem. (every time a coax signal is split, it degrades)

aggressivemx,

What you may want to try is rebooting you modem. Once you plug it into your 360 unplug(power) your modem for 30sec-1min. Plug it back in and see if that works. Many times thats all that needs to be done. I know that sometimes Cable modems are weird that way and need a reset to work with a new device.

The best advice I could give you is to get a cheap router and use that and you wont have to do all of this.

If you are not using a router, then you need to recycle your modem so it can reprovision with the new MAC address. You need to do this anytime you plug a new device into the modem. The best solution is to get yourself a router then you swap end devices at will.
