Default Does the 360 Elite look better with HDMI

I will be buying a new HDTV soon and was curious wondering if there is much of a difference between component video and HDMI on a 1080p set. Obviously the games still run in 720p, but would if be a noticeable difference over the same game running in 720p over component?

My guess is that there is a difference and that HDMI would output a better picture. However, would that difference be noticeable? I doubt it. My 360 runs through component cables and my PS3 through HDMI. I know there different systems but I still can't tell the difference if I played the same game on both.

the differences will be very hard to see, imo. when i watch the same trailers on my 360 (component) and Ps3 (HDMI), they look pretty much identical.

The only noticeable difference between HDMI and component was when i switched from hdmi to component to accommodate my hd-a2, i noticed the reds bleeding a little bit on the dashboard. It was also fairly noticeable in virtua tennis 3 which uses a lot of red in its menus.

There is a few games in 1080P now too.

In the last dashboard spring update, there was a setting to enhance the blacks. I thought it was mainly for using the VGA connection though so it might not have any affect on the compinent or HDMI connections.

I have wondered myself if I had an Elite and used HDMI if it would have better results than my premiuim 360 with VGA. My gaming TV is a 32" LCD @ 1360 x 768. With the VGA connection you are able to select that exact resolution. With component I can select 1080i or 720p, I imagine HDMI I would get the same options.

I can see the difference. Of course a 1080p tv will help, if your native resolution is 1366 x 768 (720p) then I don't think you can tell.

I Dl'ed the demo for Dynasty Warriors Gundam on both my 360 and PS3. The PS3 version had deeper blacks and was a bit crisper through HDMI whereas the 360 version was softened a bit through component.

I haven't tried an Elite yet to see if I can get the same results as the PS3 so I don't really know if it's better.

the quality changes in the analog to digital conversion when component goes to the TV assuming it is a digital monitor (the only analog monitors are CRTs) the 360 produces a digital signal the converts it to analog for component but there is no quality degradation Digital->analog but then the analog signal goes to the digital monitor and has to be converted to digital again and the quality is degraded Analog->Digital but with HDMI the signal is always digital so there is no degradation so technically HDMI is better

Everything thats come out since the elite launch has been 1080p.

and yes, there is a difference from 720p-1080p for the 360.

And yes, its worth it.
