There are quite a few programs that can do this. I use 'Winavi'. Of course, it costs about 30 bucks.

There are other alternatives to getting this program, but i don't want to say how on a public forum

I've had pretty good success using this to re-encode to WMV, although you will probably lose some quality. And it works pretty fast as well.

I am a huge fan of TMPGEnc Express 4.0 - you can use the program to interconvert between lots of formats. It's also really great for encoding AVIs and WMVs for DVD if you're interested in that. And it's pretty user-friendly.

Or you could use Windows movie maker. It's already on your computer so there's nothing to download, and it works pretty well for WMV files. There are better programs for overall format conversion, but WMM will do the job just fine in this case.

Take a look here : their guides are pretty complete...

AVI to (Xbox 360 compatible) WMV Conversion Guide
http://www.digital-digest.com/articl...ide_page1.html

Xbox 360 DivX, XviD Playback Guide
http://www.digital-digest.com/articl...ide_page1.html

They suggest you also which software to get (most of the time in freeware form..)

I hope it helps.
