Default I just watched____ on HD DVD and....

Well there is a thread on another forum like this, but I think there are probably more people in these forums still enjoying their HD DVD's. And maybe we won't have to re-bump old threads from 2007 about the particular movies we just watched. So, what'd you just watch? How was it? PQ/AQ? Movie overall? I guess I'll start.

I just watched "Eastern Promises" on HD DVD the other night. Combo disc had been sitting on the shelf awhile. I originally watched it on DVD a couple of years ago. The HD DVD provided a big pq upgrade. This is a good looking movie. The audio was Dolby True HD, but to be honest I couldn't discern the difference between the Dolby + Track when switching back and forth. Although I never had any problem w/ making out any of the dialogue. The movie was better than I remembered and I thought Viggo Mortensen was great in it.

been looking for a hhhhdvd thread to post movies you watched recently, then I gave up.

I recently watched Polar Express and I think that's a demo disc- great PQ and AQ. The best is sequence for AQ is in the beginning when the Polar Express pulls up in front of his (forgot the boy's name) house. It literally shakes everything in my apartment including the walls.

One of the better sequences for PQ is when the golden ticket flies out of the train and is passed around from the wolves to the eagle and back on the train.

Polar Express is probably my most watched HD DVD as I have a 4 year old that can't get enough of it. The opening train sequence is a great workout of your subwoofer! It is only in plain DD and sounds fantastic!

That's exactly why I watched it. My daughter who will be 3 this March loooooves Polar Express and especially that train sequence. I've watched that movies well over 10 times in the past month. Funny I still like it though.

BTW- I would've also listed Half Baked but that won't play for some reason. It's the first disc I ever had that won't play at all(other that a defective 300 that Amazon quickly replaced). I tried popping it in a couple of nights ago and I kept getting an error message. Anyways, looking forward to posting my thoughts on the red flicks.

Just watched Planet Earth disc 1: From Pole to Pole last night. I'm trying to get my 3 year old daughter into nature, and she really got into it.

I forgot how beautifully shot this series was and I'm about to revisit the whole set.

I have been watching quite a few hd dvd's(and bbblu's also) since the start of the year. I have quite a few that I have not gotten around to watching since most of my hd dvd purchases were of 6 or more movies at a time.

Just noticed this thread so I will only name the last few I have watched...

Casino - great film, can't get enough of it as I have seen it a few times on dvd.

Untouchables - pq was good, but i thought the film was only ok. I am not a big Kevin Costner fan so maybe thats why I did not enjoy it more.

Swordfish - pq & aq were great, movie was ok

Smokey & the Bandit - love this movie, love the car, love Jackie Gleason
Spoiler
"outta my way you dumb sumbitch"

Grand Prix - this one was a blind buy for me. Looked great and was also a pretty good movie too.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - love this movie. Anyone who doesn't think Jim Carrey can handle a serious role needs to see this film.

Last HD DVD watched was Running Scared (German). I had to listen to the DTS core track, but it sounded fantastic. Also, the PQ is superb; really a top notch transfer. The movie has it's moments, but I consider it a bit "so-so" overall. Definitely wirth a watch for the PQ.
