Default Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire [HD DVD]

Ok. I am a big fan of buying movies from the UK on Amazon.com. I have 2 DVD Players that do not need region codes. Plus they convert from PAL to NTSC.
The question was answered by others that HD-DVDs have no region code. Ok that is good. Now I am wondering about the PAL to NTSC conversion. I am thinking if I bought the above DVD from the UK it would be region free but my HD-DVD player (XBOX 360 add-on) would not be able to convert the standards.
IS the HD stuff still in NTSC or PAL? Has the HD completely made this obsolete?
Can I buy this title and make it play on my HD-DVD player??
Gosh I feel like its 1997 again and I just bought my first region free player for 1k from Canada.

I believe HD is universal so there NTSC and PAL aren't an issue with HD-DVD. I could be mistaken though.

You are correct. PAL and NTSC is not used for HD DVD. Your UK disc should play fine.

I just ordered it. It is released in the UK NOV. 20th. SO I will tell you sometime after it gets here if it works.
I figure for 25 dollars its worth the risk.

Yeah, let me know. I am pretty confident from all that I heard that it should work, but it would be nice to hear it first-hand.

I just ordered this today myself. According to the Amazon.uk website I should have it in my possession around 11/21-11/23. I will let folks know how the UK disc plays on my USA A1.
