Default New member, just joined the HD DVD club ...

Hello everyone.

I've known about this forum for a while now and have been lurking in the shadows reading all that's been going on, but it wasn't until today, that I figured it was finally about time I register, now that I'm officially part of the HD club

Even though I've owned an HDTV for just over a year now and have a HD satellite and a couple WMV-HD movies laying around, it wasn't until 3 days ago that I finally got a dedicated HD player.

I picked up the Toshiba HD-A2 for $530 Canadian and three movies separately to go along with it.

"King King", "The Thing" and "Black Rain". After watching them all, I've gotta say, I was so impressed with the quality of these transfers that I do NOT in any way, shape or form, regret going with HD-DVD, no matter how much the "other guys" claim I went with the wrong format. HD-DVD is awesome and I'm more than happy with the choice I made .

I was so impressed with the audio/video quality of those movies, that I went ahead and ordered three more this morning. BackDraft, Casino and the World's Fastest Indian. (Why do I get the feeling this new little hobby of mine is going to end up costing me a fortune )

Can't wait to watch them and I'm looking forward to participating in this forums debates/arguments

Here's my humble little set-up. Maybe not as impressive as most others that have been posted on this forum, but I'm happy with it.

- 60" HDTV
- HD satellite receiver
- Toshiba HD-A2 6 movies and counting - man this thing is awesome!!
- Inspiron XPS HTPC to store my games collection
- Audio by JBL/Velodyne/Harman Kardon/Sony and Kenwood
- bunch of other crap

..

I'd post a pic or two of my Home Theater set-up but I have to meet the 10 post requirement before I can do so.

Stay tuned...
Congratulations!

But this should be moved to the Smackdown folder by the mods.
I'm sure the BD-fanbois will shred your arguments in peaces because they know everything better when it comes to HD and they can foresee the future!

why go with HD-DVD when Laser Discs are going to dominate anyways.

You can post the link's urls and I will fix them so they work. Just leave off the "http://" or the "www."

Welcome to the HD DVD world. I support BD also, but HD DVD is the better format.

Congrats for making the right choice, and don't even bother listening to the BD fanboys who would tell you otherwise.

And welcome to the forum!

Welcome brother, any friend of HD DVD is a friend of mine. Don't listen to these Blu Rayers, you made the right decision. I will be looking forward to uncorking a champagne bottle of victory with all my HD friends in the future.

Thumbs up

Weclome to the forum Joe6pack !!! I also went and bought the Toshiba - A2. What a great machine. HD films look great at the upscaling for SD-DVD is superb. My Criterion collection have never looked better. Keep with your beliefs, the war has only just started !!!

Welcome to the forum! I certainly have never regretted going HD DVD and I doubt you will as well. I also invested in Blu-ray, but so far the only thing it has changed for me is that I admire HD DVD even more.
