Default Newbie Question About HD DVD Releases (WB)

I'm a bit confused about the movies that will be released on HD DVD by WB.

Does the May 2008 "cutoff date" include all of WB's catalog or just their new releases (movies)? Will WB continue to release older movies in their catalog such as "Bonnie & Clyde" past the May cutoff date on HD DVD?

Thanks for the help!

All things planned till 1st June will be released. That does not only count the new releases but also the catalogue ones in.

There is however a timewindow of approximately 3 weeks which means that the Blu-Ray release of nearly every movie (except the catalogue ones) will be about 3 weeks before HD-DVD.

Warner will no longer release any HD DVD's after May 31. Only movies that have a release date prior to May 31 will see the light of day.

No, that is not correct. According to a Warner statement: http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/news/...Still_TBD/1330

They will likely continue releasing titles on HD DVD that had been released before that date (May 31):

Quote:
As for the continued availablity of Warner's existing HD DVD library post-May, Tsujiharan said the studio hadn't yet reached a decision with regard to its HD DVD back catalog, but that it would likely comply with the requests of its retail partners, saying "if major retailers say that they want something, we typically accommodate them."

Thats what I said. They will not release any new movies after May 31. Meaning catalog and new releases.

Oh yes, you are right, I did not read carefully enough. No new releases after that day, but existing releases likely to be continued.

As long as they don't discontinue any of their previous releases and leave me looking on Ebay for overpriced OOPs I'll be somewhat satisfied. Good to hear.
