Default Universal talks about HD DVD at CES

Quote:
"The HD DVD camp has always stuck to a simple set of principles," said Ken
Graffeo, executive vice president of HD strategic marketing for Universal
Studios Home Entertainment, and co-president of the HD DVD Promotional Group.
"Give consumers who buy into HD DVD what they paid for. In fact, give them
more than they expected. Show them that quality and value go hand in hand
with HD DVD. Show them what advanced interactivity really means and how it
can enrich your favorite movies that you watch over and over."

Looks like Universal don't want let Sony own the optical media market even if Warner Brothers do.

Now THAT is the sort of statement I have been waiting for. Doesn't sound to me like they are giving up.

The deal between Warner and the Blu-ray camp expires at a date in the future that Warner executives declined to identify. Even after it expires, "it's highly unlikely we'll switch back," says Mr. Tsujihara.

Universal is awesome. No matter what happens in this format war I will always support their movies and shows (NBC). and the same goes true for Paramount as long as they stick it out too!

I can't share it, because WSJ has strict terms regarding it. PM me if you want it.
