Default Combo discs

Hi everyone,

Does anyone else have problems with combo discs? (HD and DVD on the same disc)

I have had problems on 3 of them so far. The image start acting up and I lose the sound. It happened to me with Happy Feet, Harry Potter : Order of the Phoenix and in the Kingdom. In Happy Feet and Harry Potter I fixed it quickly with a rewinding of chapter. After that the scene played fine. But in The Kingdom it started to bug at around 50 minutes into the movie and I could not get it to play again. I had to close the player and it was still not working when I got there. it was fine once I got it to the 65 minutes mark.

I got the latest firmware that was released a couple of weeks ago for my A3 player.

Just curious if anyone had issues with this. (I hope this is the right forum for this and I did a search and could not find anything on the subject.)

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem with The Kingdom around the same mark but it only lasted two seconds and kept playing. This has been the only movie so far have not tried harry potter yet.

Looks like the Microsoft player is really a sturdy piece of hardware then

I should have added that 2 of the 3 movies I mentionned we're rentals.

I did not notice any major scraches on the disc but it could still be part of the problem.

and yes the 360 addon seems like pretty solid hardware from what I read. Too bad I don't own a X360.

Yes, the combo disc problems are a well known issue. Many (including me) are of the opinion that the combo format needs to be dropped entirely.

I also have a 360 add-on and the only combo in my collection (Hot Fuzz) give me disc read errors. So it's not a problem that stems from stndalone players.

You're not the only one having problems with Combo discs. Many do.

I have an A2 and have watched many combos without any problems whatsoever, so I'm okay with them.

I have never had a problem with a combo disk. I hope I don't have any either, because just I bought Hot Fuzz and Children of Men an hour ago.
