Default Have you ever used the DVD side of a combo disc?

When I first bought my Xbox 360 HD DVD player I was kind of irritated that some of the movies I wanted were more expensive because of the combo format, but I recently bought The Bourne Ultimatum and wanted to watch it at a friend's house (after I already watched it in HD of course), and the DVD side paid off because she does not have an HD DVD player. One use doesn't make up for the extra money I've paid, but I actually see the usefulness of it now.

Yes, in the case of movies like Land of the Dead, in which all of the non-commentary special features are only on the SD side.

Sometimes I've used the DVD side to snag some screengrabs, and I've popped it into a portable DVD player to listen to an audio commentary while I'm working. Other than that, not really.

The only time I used the DVD side was when the HD side wouldn't play. This is for Hot Fuzz - the only combo disc I own and ever will.

Yes, I ripped the DVD on my iMac/iPod.

The family also used it on their DVD players.

I did before I got my add-on. I was so jazzed about the idea of hd-dvd that I decided that any new dvds I would get would be combo, so in the future I could play them in hd-dvd. bought The Good Shepherd and watched the dvd side, then about 3 weeks later I got an hd-dvd add-on.

I should also point out that this is a great strategy for penetrating the market of people who have not upgraded, it leads them right into hd-dvds. Because of this, I actually don't mind the combos, it helps us when the war.

That works in theory. J6P isn't willing to spend $30 on a movie when they can get the standard DVD for $15.

Yes, I've used them a lot, and my friends when they borrow my discs have used them even more!
