Default Forbidden Planet!!

I just watched Forbidden Planet on HD-DVD. Absolutely amazing. I can't believe how good it looked. I love my HD player!!! It looked like it was filmed yesterday!!

Yeah, the movie is awesome, but even though the disc is pretty good, I think you'll find if you watch enough older catalogs that actually it could probably be even better. I think if it came out tomorrow it would look even better. It's not bad though.

I am a lot more forgiving of the transfers on old catalog titles. I love this movie and was pleased with the transfer considering it's 50 years old. Robby the Robot rocks!

I netflixed the film as I had fond memories of seeing it as a kid (it was one of my dad's fav sci-fi films) and I was blown away by the release, both in terms of picture quality and the tons of bonus features that are actually worth watching (unlike most "special" features). I immediately ordered the Collector's edition in HD-DVD for myself and picked up a CE copy that I gave to my dad for father's day. Definitely one of the best releases on high def.

I was pretty shocked at how beautiful this looked. Right up there with 'The Deer Hunter' for terrific-looking catalog titles.
