I've heard some problems for some movies like Chronicles of Riddick and Children of Men. Riddick went out of sync on audio with me once, but i paused it and played and it was back to normal. There have also been alot of firmware updates to fix these issues.

I had a problem with Waterworld, but it was only the menus, they were a little choppy but the movie played fine. I was playing it on my HD-A2, then I upgraded the firmware and the problem was gone.

I think because the HD-DVD specs are much better defined and not changing every 6 months, publishers have a better grasp on the format so there aren't as many software problems as there are with Blu-Ray.

The only movies that I have ever had a problem playing on my A3 were ones that were from netflix that were scratched, this format is way more sensitive to minor scratches than sd dvd.

I have only had two problems with any of my movies (that I have played). When I tried to load "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" I received a "could not read disc" error. However, when I tried to play it again, it started up just fine.

The other problem was with Tremors. I left the movie running while going into the kitchen and noticed that the movie went completely silent. I looked into the living room and noticed the screen was black, then the movie started up again like nothing had happened. I rewound the movie and played the scene again where it would have gone black and it played through without any hitches.

Everything else I have played has been flawless.
