Default Which movies have the highest replay value? Need your advice

My cousin just got an HD player and only has one movie for it - Ricky Martins Viva Las Vegas or whatever. Anyways, Im looking to get him 2 movies for Xmas. He has a nice quality HD setup so I know he would want 1) Ref. quality/demo material 2) high replay value, a movie anyone can watch over and over a million times and not get sick of it. Both movies I get him MUST qualify for both 1 and 2. It can be a tier 1 quality transfer but if the movie has no replayability then its no good.

Which would you recommend? Hes mostly into action.

I was thinking

Transformers
Bourne Ultimatum (almost certain this will be one of the 2 I buy for him)
300 (crossed out)
Children of Men
Bladerunner (crossed out)
Jet Li's Fearless

Pick 2 off that list that you believe is demo material and has high (maybe unlimited) replay value. Or feel free to add other titles that you feel are better choices. Remember 2 movies only!

thanks kids.

Transformers and Children Of Men!
I wouldn't say Bourne Ultimatum unless he's seen the first 2!

Bourne Ultimatum and Children of Men.

Children of Men is easily one of my favorite films. It is beautiful, intelligent, and easily the one of the best Sci-Fi films. I found the transfer to be source accurate. I say that, remembering a late screening here at Georgetown, DC...digital projection. The sound is quite good, though, it isn't lossless(not that big of a deal). The fact the cinematography is breathtaking, just makes the thing a treasure to the eye. It's more appealing to the senses, then Transformers, which is just "action"...it isn't beautiful.

Now, Bourne is just a damn good flick. It's smart and has good action rolled up into one. I like the look, the sound, and the mayhem.

I'd easily show off either of these...I've shown off Children of Men several times.

*EDIT* I consider Children of Men to be the best Recent Film released on HD. Until Pan's Labyrinth comes out...then it will be tied.

I think anything on that list sounds good.... I would definately recommend Transformers first and probably 300 second. King Kong is another great transfer I would recommend, if he likes the movie that is.

Wow, if Ricky Martin's Viva Las Vegas is his cup of tea, I am not sure what you might get. I think you are on the right track with "Transformers" and "Bourne Ultimatum". My personal favorite HD DVD is "The Adventures of Robin Hood", a 1930's swashbuckler that I have seen a half dozen times over the decades including once on HD DVD, I own it and will watch it again. I have rented "300" and "Company of Men" and liked both but I don't know that those offer great replay potential.

That is a good point about being sure he has seen the first two Bourne films. It wouldn't be a good choice otherwise.

LOL, well I think he got it free the ricky martin

But anyways I think im gonna take 300 off, for me anyhow I absolutely hated the movie, I found it to be one of the most overrated ever. As good as the sound is, the picture wasnt anything to write home about. This movie has no replay value IMO.

Blade runner gonna take that off too cause its old.

So now down to

COM
Bourne Ult
Fearless
Transformers

Im 99% certain the Bourne Ult will be one of the 2.

Transformers for sure. The other pick is not on your list but any of the following will do for demo material and replay value:

Batman Begins
Departed
Casino
Hot Fuzz
King Kong
Hulk

Just fyi...Bourne Ultimatum is a great disc as well but considering you dont have the first two...I left it out.

Depends on his age and taste, but think about "Smokey and the Bandit" and "Hot Fuzz". The former is suprisingly well done for an old favorite.
