Default Check your Star Trek Cases!

First off, this set is killer! Looks and sounds insane for a 1960's tv show. Just wanted to mention that you should take a good look at your case before you buy it from wherever. 30% of our stock came in with significant cracks in the plexiglass outer shell. Not sure what the reason is, but someone I know at Best Buy said some of theirs have cracks as well. I just wanted to give you the heads up as this is an expensive set, and worth making sure you have a perfect copy.

Can anyone post a real photo or several of the packaging? It looks great, I might go to Virgin tomorrow and get my free HD DVD player and buy Star Trek.

Thanks, that packaging looks very nice. I was always wondering how the center was floating inside. It looks really great.

More than likely, there's a plastic bar that sits out and holds the set up, and the front locks it in place.

My Set's been shipped but I pulled the trigger on a New 1080p set tonight a Sony 46W3000 but I won't have it till next week so I may hold off watching the set till I get that. Don't know if 720p will do it justice.

How far away are you sitting from your TV Set? With your newely purchased Sony 46W3000 you will have to sit 5-6 feet or closer to notice the difference between 720p and 1080p. I dont know if you have ever measured your viewing distance before but sitting 5 feet or closer is pretty damn close. I actually find that viewing distance uncomfortably close but to each thier own. Most people sit around 10 feet away as that is usually the distance between the seating arangments and the TV in an average size home and again you would not see a bit of difference between 1080p and 720p at that distance.

1080p really only becomes important with TV sets larger than 50" so if I were you I would not wait to crack into that new Star Trek set as your simply not going to see a difference unless you pull up a chair and literally sit right in front of your new set and that sounds very uncomfortable considering you have a whole season of Star Trek to watch.

The 46W3000 can handle 1080p and 24p.

I've the 40W2000 and if I switch between 1080p and 720p I can tell the difference, when I asked my other half to select a setting with my back turned and then tried to guess I got the setting right 8 times out of 10. When we tried 1080i vs 1080p it was 50 50!!
