I have double dipped a lot. I keep my dvds to watch in my bedroom. Standard dvd player, 20 inch tv...they look find on there. Living room with 56 inch needs HD regardless...and the sound difference on some of these movies is incredible.

I constantly double dip...
from vhs to dvd
from dvd to dvd special/collector's/limited edition
from that to steelbooks
and now from steelbooks to HD-DVD (and soon the blu covers will be mine too)

try selling them to friends (for a cheap price)..at least you make some money of it...

not for me, unless something really worth double dipping lik the matrix. IMHO, unless you are a big fan of particular movie, standard DVD not worth replacing.

I've double dipped my fair share.

Chronicles of Riddick
Pitch Black
Pan's Labyrinth will be one.
Terminator 2
Underworld
Reign of Fire
What Dreams May Come
The Matrix

I give away my standard DVDs to friends mostly. I've even given away my first double dipped HD DVD title, as I just had to have the new edition of Full Metal Jacket

I double dip all the time. I trade my SD DVD to Blockbuster and then use store credit to buy HD DVD.

How are Blockbuster's trades? Have any example values? I don't mind double dipping on big releases and personal favorites, but rarely do so for packaging or steelbooks - although I used to. One day I looked at my shelf and saw the 1 disc, 2 disc collectors, 2 disc extended, 2 disc steelbook and 2 disc lenticular edition of the same movie and thought no more. I am cutting back, due to space issues and well now that DVDs are at the end, I don't want them anymore.
