Default Dolby Digital Plus question

If im listening to a Dolby Digital Plus track through an optical connection is that the best it will sound? cause i remember it being 1.5 mbps for the highest, and it plays as a 1.5 mbps dts track through my receiver, or will DD+ tracks still sound much better through HDMI? just wanted to clear this up if anyone knows

It will sound better with HDMI. Your just getting the core of it through optical and not the full bitrate.
