They still have an advantage a.) because the 51g disc doesn't exist yet and b.) because BD could add a third layer too and double their capacity.

A. Obviously it exists and they have manufactured a prototype because it has been approved by the forum.

B. Sony can barely manufacture the regular BD's correctly or get them to work properly. Adding another layer to the BD is just another headache that's months or possibly years away.

Well... This could be the same for HD-DVD....

Could be hi failure rates and the major issue is playback in current players.

If this doesn't playback on current players, this would be the killer of HD-DVD.

I suppose that's why they've approved V.2 of TL-51, unless they've got at least one more version to go until it's marketable.
