Question Will we ever see "the Blue Planet" on HD DVD?

Recently on Discovery HD THeater they broadcast "The Blue Planet." This was the underwater accompanyment to Planet Earth I believe. Has anyone heard anything about Discovery releasing that series on HD? There is already an HD DVD out called "Blue Planet," but that is an IMAX space flick. That is not what I want...

Any info???

i've wondered the same thing myself. I've been holding off on getting planet earth because I wanted the blue planet also in the set. Discovery recently released a planet earth / the blue planet box set that has all the dvds for something like 99 bucks. I would love to see this in HD.

If you're sure it's not this one:

Then it must be what I read about over at AVS(I believe). Here's the scoop: The guys that did it, or one of the BBC network guys was on some British radio talk show, one that you could send in questions to, and the question was asked. The answer was "Yes!". So, if that is to be believed, then it's coming.

Do we know if this series was originally filmed in hi def? I think that's what makes the planet earth series so phenomenal on HD is that the source material is all in HD.

It is said that most of the footage from this new one is recycled from Planet Earth, so I'd guess the other footage would be as well.

The Blue Planet was released on SD DVD in October 2005.

IMO it's better than Planet Earth.
