Default Blood Diamond...

Can anyone give me their opinion on BD's picture quality? I bought it for a special price of $18 at Best Buy, only to come home and read from High Def Digest's official review that they gave it a 3/5 star rating on PQ. The reason I ask is because they were selling The Last Samurai for $18 and it has insane 4.5/5 PQ and AQ from High Def Digest. I have not opened the shrink wrap on Blood Diamond yet, so I would greatly appreciate it if y'all can give me some feedback on whether to exchange for Last Samurai or not!

P.S: I bought Casino at $18 and it looks FANTASTIC for a 1995 movie. I also got Seabiscuit at the same price and it looks INCREDIBLE even for a newer movie. I made the mistake of assuming that Blood Diamond would look great since it's a newer movie than Last Samurai. Thanks again for any feedback.

Which would you say is better quality though, Blood Diamond or Last Samurai? All of my HD discs so far have had high ratings from High Def Digest (4 or better). 300, Batman Begins, Bourne Identity, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Casino, Seabiscuit, The Departed. I just don't want to be disappointed.

Personally, I find the PQ of Blood Diamond very good. Additionally, it's a great movie and well worth your time to watch, and for $18 you can't really go wrong.
(never seen Last Samurai on HD DVD so cannot comment/compare)

OK y'all, thanks for the re-assurance. I guess the editors that write the content here have insanely good eyes or standards. I assume that most newer releases in HD will look awesome, but when you expect it to look awesome, perhaps you get disappointed by it. Maybe this explains the 3/5 rating from High Def Digest? At any rate, thanks for the feedback.

Forgot to mention, this deal was made even sweeter by the fact that I found a random Best Buy $10 gift card in my wallet that I had not used. So, my price went from $58 including tax to $48 for the 3 movies. $16 a pop for HD = very cool, and 3 good movies to boot!

EDIT: Just popped it in and it looks great! Thanks again y'all.

I feel like this is one pq rating that was overly nitpicky. The vast majority of the movie looks very very good and it was great seeing these locations and action scenes in hd.

Wether it could have been a better movie without the big stars is another story... (i think it could have been)

I rented it from Netflix and thought that the PQ was decent....definitely looked HD in most scenes. The sound was pretty good to. The movie itself, well, I dunno. It kind of underwhelmed me for whatever reason. I just couldnt get really "into it" if you know what I mean. It had its moments but ultimately, I didnt care enough. I really find Leo DiCrappio quite annoying....maybe he killed it for me.

The film should have been a classic epic but failed to meet that lofty standard, IMO.

Perhaps you'll love it, lots of people did. Just my 2 cents...
