Default Hd-A2 worth getting for an older TV?

How is the HD-A2 in terms of PQ? I use the Xbox Add-on on a smaller TV that only goes to 1080i but the difference is very noticeable. I tried it out on the bigger Sony TV which is also 1080i (42") in the living room and I couldn't find much of a difference between the upconverted DVD and the HD DVD. A friend of mine also uses the add-on on the same TV and it didn't look that fantastic. Is it worth getting a new player if the x box add on didn't look so good on it? BTW, the TV is about 3 years old??Not sure about the model.

EDIT:Should probably delete this thread. Probably in the wrong forum.

If your TV is 1080i then the A2 is pretty much perfect. Even on a 1080p TV it will look great!

Seriously? I have a 42" 720p HDTV and the difference between an upconverted DVD and an HD DVD is pretty substantial. What disc were you using to compare?

The Hitcher, which looks great on my 27" Polaroid. It's my dad's TV out in the living room so I don't really mess with it. The HD Broadcasts on the TV look great so I'm pretty sure everything is calibrated right.

Ok? Amazing grammar aside, thanks for the post. Nothing is wrong with me. Even with my glasses I couldn't see much of a difference. There is a possibility that the TV isn't calibrated right or the setup is wrong. It's not my TV.

Why are you posting this same post in the HDD Software, HDD Hardware, and the AVSForum HD DVD Hardware Forum all at the same time? Are you really that concerned?

Can you spell Project HyDRA?

We have two 1080i HDTV's (52" and 61"). We have the 360 add-on on the 52" and the A2 on the 61" and we see an improvement with the A2 over the add-on. So much so that I'm planning on removing the add-on and picking up another A2 for the 52" TV, or even an A3 if we can't get the A2 for $99. (If I'm already going to pay $150 to $200 for the second machine, I'm just going to pony up the difference for the A3.)
