Default BoxofficeMojo Poll for best pictures of the summer

Interesting I just took a poll at box office mojo regarding the best summer picture of the year and was pretty surprised to see the overall standings, actually not really that surprised. Again it was regarding what you felt was the best summer flick of this year and here are the results as they stand just minutes go.

What was your favorite movie of Summer 2007?

23.0% Transformers
14.1% The Bourne Ultimatum
10.5% Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
8.0% Ratatouille
7.9% Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
6.6% Live Free or Die Hard
5.0% The Simpsons Movie
4.7% Hairspray
4.2% Spider-Man 3
4.0% Superbad
3.7% Knocked Up
2.3% Other
1.3% Once
1.0% Sicko
1.0% Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
0.6% 1408
0.5% La Vie en Rose
0.5% Ocean's Thirteen
0.5% Shrek the Third
0.4% Rush Hour 3
0.2% No Reservations
1,281 users polled.

Now given 1281 people doesnt sound like that many people but in reality it is a fairly descent sized sample when dealing with numbers and projections. It seems very clear that most people feel that the best films of the year will be coming to HD DVD this year. Ao let the BD supporters keep talking about how bad Trasnformers was or how having Trasnfrmers and Ultimatum cant compete against Fantastic Four 2, Die hard 4, Ratatoullie and Spider-Man 3 because most people would agree that we are getting the best films of this year.

By the way the poll is on the main page if your interested in voting.

Default Variety: 'Bourne" Supreme Overseas

Quote:
I pulled this from Movie.com website>
'Bourne' supreme overseas

Superspy Jason Bourne shot to the top slot at the international box office as "The Bourne Ultimatum" dominated a typically moderate early fall frame with $16.5 million at 3,660 playdates in 37 markets.

"Ultimatum" matched the combined grosses of the next two pics -- "Ratatouille" and "Shrek the Third" -- as Universal's thriller won its third international crown in the last four frames.

The weekend also saw critical fave "Atonement" open solidly in the U.K., its first market, as U's romancer battled local pic "Run, Fat Boy, Run" for first with $3.3 million at 411. That's more than double the launches of "The Queen" and "Finding Neverland."

As has been typical of 2007, overall biz continued to track well ahead of a year ago, with the top five pics combining for $43 million -- $13 million more than the 2006 weekend, when "Cars" led with $9 million.

"The Bourne Ultimatum" continued to attract action fans, mostly from a trio of major markets --Germany, with a first-place launch of $5 million, more than double the openings of the previous "Bourne" pics; Australia, with a 38% decline in its soph sesh to $3.1 million, topping the "Ratatouille" debut; and the U.K., with a 51% slide in its fourth frame to $2.2 million. It also grabbed first in its Mexican launch with $1.5 million.

"Ultimatum" has met studio forecasts and cumed $98.8 million internationally -- $6 million ahead of "The Bourne Identity" and $13 million behind "The Bourne Supremacy." It opens in France and Belgium next weekend.
Sounds Like more good stuff for our HD-dvd Hit!
