Hot DAMN that looks good! I wasn't even considering the Star Trek Boxset, despite being a fan of the series. But after viewing that informative video, I'm DEFINITELY going to be adding it to my collection!

Yeah it definitely gets you fired up for sure!! I was always planning on getting this set, even though it is definitely overpriced. Still I don't think people have any idea how massive the features are on this set. I think it will set the bar for ALL future releases!!

Extras aren't usually that important to me but as a huge fan of the original Trek I'm all over this. Fantastic!

Amazon - List Price: $198.99
Price: $138.95 & this item ships for FREE with Super Saver

Not cheap, and I'm waiting for the Amazon 10% discount to pre-order, and then cut back on a few tanks of gas for my SUV.

Looks incredible... They really went all out on the special features. I'll be picking up the set and my wallet will undoubtedly be hurting.

Just not sure about the "updated" special effects. That was part of the campy charm of the show. I am surprised no one has gone up in arms about the changes. I think that the biggest part of the price is the effort that went in to restoring the footage from the negatives. Repairing scratches and the like is very time consuming and expensive. At the least, a NetFlix rental for sure.

the reason why no-one is "up in arms" is because the "original" episodes have already been issued in very nice sd versions. Now I would agree that it would be nice to have both "original" and "new" in hd, but maybe one day the "original" episodes will come to hd also.

I don't like the new 3-D changes and effects, but I will buy this in support of CBS/Paramount. My dad will, undoubtedly, love it. So it'll be for him as much as it is me. I'll see if he likes the new changes, he's a Star Trek junkie.
