Default 300 on HD-DVD Looked Horrible!

I am running a 65" Toshiba DLP 1080P with an A-2 HD-DVD Player. I wanted 300 first on SD-DVD before purchasing the combo-HD_DVD and it looked very fuzzy and the clouds were pixelated it looked awful.

I then was excited when I bought the HD Version. However it looked horrible the transfer was not good.

I have Hot Fuzz and Sahara on HD-DVD those were crystal clear, in fact I think Hot Fuzz and MI-3 had the best transfer VC-1 to HD. Anybody else agree/ or disagree about 300?

It looked grainy and uhh, rusty for me. But I think that was intentional? Thats the way I think it looked in the theaters.

it was filmed to look that way. I thought it looked outstanding. Sure, its not crystal clear, but again... it was intentional.

Well, it's obvious you don't take artistic style into account.

--_> Well I prefer to watch movies in clarity, this was almost unwatchable to me. The close-ups were bad, the grainy areas were laughable. Intentional or not it was very bad for me.

If I wanted an artistic style Id' watch What dreams may come, and get in the groove of a world of canvas.

300 was made to look like that, the Blu-Ray version does too. It looks amazing but I don't like the grain much neither, I believe the whole reason for HD is to see perfect faces and such, I want to see pores not grain! Still kickass!!!!!!

I agree With Riddick, if it was made that way you have to be careful of clarity. Look at What Dreams may come, something like that would have been acceptable. I liked the film but i dont like the way it was made apparently then

I watched this movie in an IMAX theater, which is about the biggest screen you can get, and I wasn't bothered by grain at all. It just looks heavily stylized, but that was to be expected with a movie based on a graphic novel. I reckon the HD DVD looks much the same.
