Default 'Omega Man' -- pre-release buzz

A surprise announcement from Warner, they will be releasing the 1971 classic 'The Omega Man' on HD DVD (and Blu-ray) November 27:

A completely bare bones release, tech specs include 1080p video and the original mono audio only.

Seems like they are only releasing this one to capitalize on the big-budget Will Smith remake 'I Am Legend' which is hitting theaters in December...

Yeah, that is kind of surprising. I have seen this but I can't remember if I liked it. I am planning on seeing "I am Legend".

I will definitely buy. I still love the novel, so any permutation of it will do just fine by me.

Movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash
we have very little reason to be interested in them.

I can't wait.

It's an old childhood favorite for me.

Hopefully at least a new remaster then and not some dusty 90's master.

I'm kinda of nervous of the Will Smith re-make. The trailer makes it look like a great action movie; but after I, Robot, I don't know what to expect and won't create high hopes.

Omega Man, on the other hand, is a sci-fi classic -- not on the level of Planet of the Apes, but it's there with Soylent Green. I only hope that Warner goes back and remasters the original master.
