Default HD DVD Hybrid Demo Disc 2006 CES

Here is another disc I can show you.
It doesn't work on my XE1 like you can see on the pic but it works fine
with my damaged cyberlink software ?!? :-)
The picture quality is VERY good quite unlike my shots...

Awesome, Logodaddy. The hits just keep on coming, I don't know how you do it. I'll add it to the demo list. I think that's the first twin disc demo if I'm not mistaken.

Hey Blerim, how you been doing buddy? I finally started back on the spec lists, so hopefully sometime next year I can finish it.

Here I have a hybrid demo disc without labeling. It seems to be the same content.

Hey Marco

I have noticed that this twin disc also doesn't work on my XE1 perfectly. Does mean: the player is not able to recorgnize the HD DVD content on the twin disc. It does only show the SD content. Although the player is set up on "twin disc". Luckily the XBox add on doesn't have this issue and shows the HD stuff. The add on is really an excellent player!!

Hi Blerim

What software are you using with the Xbox add on? I have Total Media Theater 5, but I can't get this to play past the initial screen. If I connect the add on to my Xbox 360, then it won't play. Likewise it won't play in my BH200 or XA2. The only way I can view the content is to use TMT5 and play the individual files separately.

Appears to be encoded VC-1 with DTS HD audio and looks pretty although the average bitrate is around 12 mbps. What's interesting for me though is that file creation date of 12/27/05. Don't have any other 2005 discs in my collection.

I was able to play it directly now in TMT5, but only selecting from the individual titles in the right-click TMT5 menu.

Was able to demux this discs and here are the specs

Codec: VC-1
Disc size: 1834 megabytes
Running time (of the 5 tracks): 00:16:40
Average bitrate: 12.00 mbps
Audio: DTS master audio 16/48 5.1 (on two tracks), PCM 16 2.0 (on three tracks)

Note that the average bit rate is very low, even though the PQ is very good. Perhaps Microsoft did it intentionally to show how efficient VC-1 is with low bit rates. There is plenty of room on the disc.

Hey Bruce,
thanks for demuxing the disc. Nice to see that it's possible to show a very good PQ with low bit rate. If that's the case than Blu-ray discs are wasting capacity

Anyway, as for your question, I am using the SW Cyberlink PowerDVD 7.3 Ultra. I have tried to play this demo disc on my XE1 and EP30. The XE1 shows only the SD stuff, the EP30 shows a failure message. PowerDVD plays the HD content. Still, there is an issue on the disc. The disc has 5 short videos, only the first one will play automatically. If you want to watch the other 4 movies, you have to click them on but not just shortly. You have to wait until you see a red circle and triangle, than the small image will be activated. When it's active, click again. Here some pics (bad pics unfortunately):

Hope that helps.

Blerim
