Default Scorpion King won't play.

I'm having issues with my SK disc. I have an A-3 player, and it won't play past the Universal HD DVD logo, it goes from that intro to black and says "System Error."

My player is updated with the latest firmware, and the disc is clean. I did get it from a member from Canada, although it's not one of the bi-lingual cover art type-not sure if surrounding territories have anything to do with it.

Any suggestions?

Just flipped it to the SD DVD portion, and it plays fine.

I wonder why the HD DVD side doesn't.

Try running it under hot water for a few seconds. Sometimes there's some kind of residue or coating that can prevent the HD DVD side of a combo from playing.

Actually, take a close look at the edges. I got a copy ages ago from Netflix that only played a few minutes of the movie and then gave a system error. When I checked the disc carefully I saw that the two sides were coming unglued, making the HD side uneven in a couple spots.

Checked the disc, and I did notice a couple of superficial scratched, but nothing major. I buffed it.

I also ran it under hot water for a second or two, dried it, buffed, and it still doesn't work.

Looks like I have a dud.

I can't think of anything other than to try it in another player.
