So far as ordering from Amazon.fr, or Amazon.de, is there a place on their web page to click-on for an English version of the site? I didn't see such a thing, but maybe I just missed it.

I don't believe there is an English version of the site, but Blurry's thread is very helpful when importing, in some cases he actually walks you through the process.

The primary delay is the encryption.

Due to the hacks currently out, they have delayed the titles to deal with the issue...

They will show, just might be a 4 to 6 week wait.

The titles are still scheduled for the 26th on amazon.
Was this all a big joke or is amazon just damn slow?

Well, even HDDVD Blog is reporting that these are being delayed until May:

Quote:
The 15 HD DVD titles announced earlier by Studio Canal will now due at retail on May 21 instead of March 26 or March 5. The delay is possibly due to the need to press the discs with the latest/updated AACS layer for all 15 HD DVD titles released by Studio Canal. Studio Canal has indicated that the discs with the updated AACS layer will not affect playback on standalone HD DVD players such as Toshiba HD DVD players and Microsoft Xbox360 HD DVD add-on. Software HD DVD players bundled with HD DVD PC drives may need software updates/upgrades to playback those discs.

German HD DVD Releases

Universal Pictures Germany and Studio Canal have announced that Ran, Arizona Dream and Armee im Schatten (L'armee des ombres) will also be released on HD DVD in Germany, this March 29. No delay has been announced despite the French HD DVD releases have been delayed till May 21. The disc specs for each title will be the same as those announced for the French HD DVD release.

Oddly enough, as can be seen above, some of the Canal+ titles shipping in Germany are still being released on March 29th, so I may switch my order for Arizona Dream and Ran to Germany.

Has it been confirmed that "Ran" will have an English subtitle track? I have a feeling there isn't one, but I hope I'm wrong, as I really want this title...

Doh...looks like there isn't one:

Ran [HD-30]
- 1080p / 1.85:1 (16x9) / VC-1
- DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 (Japanese) & DTS-HD High Resolution (5.1 French & 2.0 German)
- French, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, German & Dutch subtitles

Ok, that's pretty crappy news. Dangit, my German is rusty...

Who the heck controls this in the US?

Just wait for the UK release. It's been postponed but it will contain English subs.

I've reviewed all three versions of the movie on DVD and still prefer the theatrical cut by far. The "Final Cut" is better than the "Director's Cut", but it's still a big jumbled mess with all the scenes scrambled out of any logical order.

Where is the HD DVD available to order, and do any of the retailers list the running time?
