Exclamation Warner Bros. Philippines

Doesn't This mean alot of Blu Ray exclusive (visa versa) could become HD DVD imports from the philippines?
!

andcould that mean we might see a Simpsons movie HD DVD import?

Actually, now I've read it more, it says 'theatrical' which kinda dis-proves my point. lol..sorry for post

I don't know whether HDM will be available there soon.
I reckon that even DVDs are less popular than in North America, Japan and Europe.
I suppose that Video CDs are still pretty popular there. It would be difficult to persuade them to buy HDM, for you need respective equipment to play those.
Video CDs work on $100-$200 TVs, $30 DVD-Player, $2.50 cable, however, in order to enjoy HDM they will have to invest >$1000, which I can imagine is very expensive for more than 50 per cent of the population just to watch movies.

My Lord ,that's a lot of Blu Ray exclusive titles. The MAIN problem is that Asian countries,(Japan and Korea are possibly an exceptions), don't care about the quality of their viewing material. I travelled around Hong Kong earlier this year, and the level of piracy is frightening. There are stores which sell nothing BUT bootlegs, and VCD is still king even in large chains like HMV. They just want to watch the movie apparently, regardless of quality. Hence all these nice collector's editions which are released to entice people to buy a proper release, but actually end up being purchased more by westerners. The reason? They don't care.

The HD population in the Philippines is growing by the day esp with the cheap HD DVD player & the affordable PS3.

Red face

I think it's mad how people still use VCDs...Even I find DVDs to look bad now after experiancing HD!
If I where them, I would manufacture a few hundred and see how it goes. Alot of HD Heads import.

VCDs are cheap and lots of people simply don't have the income for disposable entertainment.

This is very true. Many many people don't even own a dvd player in the Phils...If they do, VCD is the format. DVD is too expensive. The average income is a few dollars per day.
