Default UK Transformers release date?!

I know I could easily import it but I'm hanging on for the UK release date, the reason being is that HD-DVD badly needs this in the UK.

Every big movie that comes out that is advertised is always drummed up on its SD release and its BD release. Recent and past events of BIG releases exclusive to BD are Casino Royale, Fntastic 4 rise of Silver Surfer, Spirderman 3 etc (can anybody remember 1 release on HD-DVD that the TV or press has turned into a big event?) Even in recent situations like that 300 tri format release, when you walk into Virgin or HMV on the UK highstreet, I was disgusted to see all the SD-DVD and BD copies right at the front of the store available for all to see and the HD-DVD copies hidden in a corner somewhere. I know this is surely a reflection of how HD-DVD is failing in the UK market but lets be honest...its hardly doing itself any favours is it?!?! If I'm being perfectly honest I'm a tad annoyed at how little HD-DVD is being pushed on to the consumer here, most people don't even know anything about it!

So what I'm hoping is lots of nice TV adverts and newspaper adverts for Transformers and those same adverts also advertising the fact that its exclusive to HD-DVD! i.e is not and never will come out on BD!! I'm a total neutral but I really do think HD-DVD needs this in the UK market and it needs it quick.

Any other HD adopters in the UK have an opinion on HD-DVD's current position in the UK marketplace??

Default International sales

Personally I feel that international sales are the HD-DVD camp's Achilles' heel. If the BDA can get the international market then the studios are going to wonder why they should go to the expense of supporting 2 formats. 1 that has half of the USA and the second that has the rest of the USA plus the rest of the world.

HD-DVD and BD are well behind the times in the UK

Just check out the shops that actually stock discs...

Most high street shops I've been in have the High-def section beside the games and not beside the rest of the dvds. Guess that shows how small the HDM market must be in the UK. Though you do see some new releases out at the front of the shop.

Just import it, i gave up with buying HD DVDS from this stupid country ages ago, come to think about it ive never bought one from the UK.

The UK is more obsessed with blue ray and Sony products, one of the reasons why i want to move to america hehe

It does suck over here for sure, but HMV and Virgin charge way too much anyway in store so thats a major downer as well as hardly any display to speak of.

I do buy some titles from good old blighty, mainly Sendit as they have great prices sometimes, like Bourne Ultimatum for 13.89!! Compared to Play 17.99 and Proberly 25 from HMV/Virgin, this is where it reeks of 1997 again as our pricing compared to stateside is so out of kilt, example Top Gun - Sendit UK -17.89 - Amazon US 13 inc Postage ,Transformers Sendit 22.89 - Amazon US 17 inc Postage.
What is the point in paying 4-8 more for the same title, this is why I bought a Region A Blu Ray because I knew we would get stitched, thats what I like about HD atleast its region free! Why do you think New Line is delaying all its HD releases, its obvious they want to stop us importing so they can worldwide release it on HD, not that it bothers me as I dont really want Hairspray anyway!

I think Both formats have alot to do in europe and signs are encouraging what with Toshiba giving 2 HD DVD's free (300 & Bourne Supremacy) in the box with the 3rd gen players and 5 free mail ins, even MS has announced 5 free mail ins for the 360 HD add on too.

But they need to sort out the pricing, films that are over 2/3 years should be about 12-13, and newer films maybe 15, when you are paying over 17 for a film thats over 10 years old its a joke, now that the players prices are coming down to reasonable levels they need to drop the disc prices too

Sorry if I ranted there but I feel it needed to be said
