Default HP HD100 USB HD-DVD ROM Drive

Hello Everyone, I am new here but wanted to know if anyone knows anything about the HP HD100 USB HD-DVD ROM Drive. Most places I have seen it the price seemed kind of high around $270 but I came across it at Costco for $199, which is the same or close to the price of the XBOX add-on.

The big differance is that it is made for Windows and comes with CyberLink PowerDVD HD DVD Edition.

Circuit City has this drive on sale for $199 also, but it is $299 at Tiger Direct and $270 at Newegg.

Well, the HTPC thing is cool and all (my first HD DVD player was the xbox add on with my HTPC), but these days I highly recommend a stand alone. The prices are just too good now, with the A2 available everywhere for $299 plus 5 free movies, you can't beat it. If you've got a costco, see if they have the D2 (A2) in stock, I think Ack_Bak got one there for $249.

Philnerd,

Thanks for the reply. I have a standalone Toshiba, but was looking at adding a drive to my laptop/desktop. I was thinking about the XBOX add-on when I came across this drive but I can't find anyone who has used it.

Oh well if I get it, I will post a review of it after I test some of my HD-DVD's and Standard DVD's on it.
