Angry HD-A1 in a HD-D1 box!

I go to open up my HD-D1 today, and what do I find? HD-A1 inside.

Hook it up, and everything works except no sound from the optical or coax digital audio!!!

Should be interesting returning an HD-A1 as an HD-D1.

Anyone else had this problem???

-John

I would look in the players setup screen under audio and change the settings from digital out to PCM before I assume the player is the problem.

Imagine if this happened to Sony...

"All right I finally got my PS3"

[Opens Box]

"Hey! This is a PS2! Wait, there's a piece of paper..."

[Pulls the folded over piece of paper out of the box]

By now you probably have noticed that this is a PS2. Don't worry, we'll fix it in a firmware update.

GL, hopefully the store is good about it.

The A1 is better than the D1. The D1 was created specifically for Wal-Mart when they told Toshiba they wanted a higher profit margin on the machine. They made the D1 out of cheaper parts than the A1.

With the optical output don't push the cable into the back of the machine until you hear the click, stop slightly before the click and you should not have a problem.

Ugh, I'm an idiot!!!

Problem is my cheap-o audio reciever doesn't have 5.1 analog inputs, and no DTS decoding. Looks like it works with 2-channels setting PCM instead of bitstream. DVDs play ok with DD 5.1. Any thoughts on how to get 5.1 out of this without DTS???

Still upsets me finding an HD-A1 in an HD-D1 box.

PS> This is my 2nd unit (I already have an RCA hooked upstairs). I don't know why the DTS thing didn't cross my mind.

Digital Out SPDIF - Bitstream
Digital Out HDMI - Auto/Bitsream

No 5.1 sound after that, then I think ya might need to get a new receiver with analog 6CH inputs & DD/dts.

If you're thinking about a receiver consider the Panasonic XR57 hdmi receiver http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...ist&sku=431701 a whole lot of bang for the buck imo.

Very impressive for the price. I think I saw HDMI switching (HDMI interface) as well. VERY impressive for the price.

I replaced my HK for that one. You do need 2 HDMI cables though, other than that its great all around.
