Default Pricing

My A30 I bought on Amazon a year ago (FEB) for $152, is now $506! Wow, I knew I was buying at a low price but assumed the prices would drop even further... guess not.

The A35 is $979! Who would spend this much on these players at this juncture of the 'format war'? Spend a grand on a dead format?

It does seem like the combo players (HD and Blu) have all but disappeared... where's a good place to get one?

What are you talking about? Where are A30s selling for $500? I have one to sell but its not worth the hassle because I won't get anything for it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Toshiba-HD-A30-HD-DVD-Player-Includes-2-movies_W0QQitemZ260355001931QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDVD _Players_Recorders?hash=item260355001931&_trksid=p 3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234|66%3A2|65%3A12|39% 3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

we'll see. this one is at $76 with two days left. it comes with two movies but I doubt that effects the player price very much.

I'm not selling my A35, but for a $1000 I could be persuaded. It's a great machine and good for upconverting.

Have the BH200 as well, which I'd never sell, actually looking for a cheap 2nd one.

Jack,

I saw one at Curcuit City in Westbury and one at Best Buy in Westbury, no prices on them though. Both were kind of used.

Thanks for the heads up Jaws. Might be worth a trip out there.

I got my eye on 1 used and 1 new in a CC in Jersey. No go on the ones I've checked in Manhattan. Price is still $327 for new and $298 for a used beat up one that I don't understand who the hell would buy it like that, except for one of us. Would easily take it for $100 or $150 and try to get the $75 rebate. Last time I was in there everything was still 10%, so I passed. But am going to keep trying for both. Hopefully, they will still be there by the time the real deals come around.

There's one on auction at Overstock.com auctions, from Best Buy Outlet. Player only, no remote, cables or manual - good 2nd player. Current bid $154.99 with a day to go.

I was bidding on one yesterday in original box with all accessories, but $250 was my limit - I don't need it for HD DVD, just for the blu-ray multi region, but they're aren't really that many non-Region A BDs that I want.

BTW, that one went for $98.88. Yeah, the prices of the Amazon 3rd Party sellers that still have new models is crazy - it's no wonder they still have them at those prices. But a good quality used A30 still brings around $100-$130; it's has 1080p/24fps, good for a 2nd player or to upgrade an A2 or A3.
