Default Samsung DLP , (model HL-S4666W) TV compatible with Blue-Ray DVD

I have a Samsung DLP , (model HL-S4666W) TV. I just bought a SONY BDP-S550 DVD, and have a question on the capability with the TV, the DVD and my receiver

My receiver is an older model, (Yamaha HTR-5860) , and does not have a HTMI port. I know the TV has two HDMI connection, (HDMI 2/DVI in, HDMI IN 1), on the back of the set.
My question is, for the BEST Video picture, (720P/1080I), using the DVD, can I Connect HDMI cable from my Cable Box to the (HDMI IN 1) port and Connect HDMI cable from (HDMI 2/DVI) to the HDMI OUT jack on the SONY BDP-S550.
For Audio, can I use the DVD Analog ,(7.1 channel Jack connect), ports to connect my older receiver
