If it is made using an HD DVD writer and formatted on a media and to a resolution handled by the player and your projector accepts HDMI or component HD, yes. What format and what media will the movie be written to? The HD-A2 can not play DivX or Xvid HD discs or some other highly compressed home made HD formats and can't play other formats you might be able to write at resolutions greater than standard DVD. Your projector should be able to downscale any HD resolutions to 1024x768 if it accepts HD input.

It is actually possible to master an HD-DVD format disc and burn it to a regular DVD, whether it is a DVD-5 or a DVD-9. The only limitation is that the video has to be kind of short, given DVD's offer much less storage room than HD-DVD's. There's a thread over at AVS about doing this.

I couldn't even get my HD A-2 to play a burnt DVD-5, it just wouldn't recognize it. Tried DVD+R DVD+RW no luck. According to video help it should work. http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers/toshiba-hd-a2/7554
