Default What should I set my player to?

Well I got my new Toshiba A2 HD DVD player today. Right now I have my reciever going through a series of test tones to reset the surround sound so I thought I would come post about my new player and ask a question. I have a 32" Sharp Aquos thats capable of 720p, and 1080i. Which ofthe 2 should I set my player on. I play my 360 and PS3 games in 720p, and my Blu rays in 1080i. Which do you prefer out of the 2? Thanks in advance.

I have mine set to 1080i as well- Not sure if it's my TV, player (hd-a1), or what but on smoking aces if it's on 720p within the first few minutes when it's showing the guys in the van the lettering for the characters names looks really jaged. Would be interested in hearing if you have the same issue.

Recommendation is supposed to be set the output to match the TV. However on my 720p set I think the image looks a little better when the player is set to 1080i.

Smile Just Got Mine Today As Well

Although I have been watching HD DVDS via my xbox add on, it has been on a 26" LCD and now I am pumped about hooking my brand new A2 to my 55" Mitsubishi.

I go with 720p, I think it looks better than 1080i. You should try both b/c opinions are going to say both.

Well I just watched Smoking Aces in 1080i and it looked fantastic. The pic quality is so damn good. Im going to watch it tomorrow on 720p to see if I can spot any difference.

How far are you sitting from the tv? If it's more than double the tv screen size (64 inches - so about 5 feet), then you WON'T notice a difference. If you are closer you might notice something... it's really and opinion thing, and a lot of people say its hard to tell the difference.
